Within the framework of its Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing , SESRIC organised a Webinar on ‘Experiences of OIC Countries in Producing Disaster Related Statistics’ on 16 June 2022 in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) with the attendance of 25 participants from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 14 OIC countries.

The main objective of this Webinar was to facilitate a platform of exchange of knowledge and best practices to improve the production of disaster related statistics by the NSOs of OIC member countries. The Webinar covered:

  • Nexus between Official Statistics and Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)
  • Geospatial Dimension in Producing Disaster-Related Statistics (UNSD)
  • Experiences of OIC Countries in Producing Disaster-Related Statistics (BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Department of Statistics (DoS) of Jordan, National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC) of Mozambique)
  • Panel Discussion: Global and Regional Approaches to Close the Gaps in Disaster-Related Statistics (SESRIC (moderator), UNDRR, UNESCAP, UNESCWA, and UNSD)
