SESRIC and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) signed an MoU to facilitate and strengthen technical cooperation

SESRIC and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate and strengthen cooperation in the areas of common interests.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC, and H.E. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Zabawi ABDUL GHANI, Director General of MARDI, on 14 September 2022.

The MoU provides a framework of cooperation that aims to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions in areas of common interest through knowledge exchange towards the development of sustainable and competitive agriculture sector, as well as the improvement of food security levels in the OIC member countries. Targeted areas of cooperation include the transfer of knowledge and best practices through capacity building and training activities as well as exchanging research ideas, developing and implementing joint projects in the field of agricultural development and food security for the benefit of relevant national institutions in the OIC member countries.

MARDI, a statutory body under the purview of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Malaysia, was established with a vision to be the preferred provider of innovative technologies for a sustainable and competitive agricultural industry by 2030; with the mission to drive agricultural productivity and sustainability through the transfer of modern, efficient and cost-effective technologies; strengthen financial resources, talent, facility and infrastructure for research and development and enhancing organisational visibility and good governance through effective, efficient, transparent and accountable management.
