SESRIC delegation headed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Marwan AL-REFAI, Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation on 13 June 2023 at the Headquarters of DoS in Amman.

The visit focused on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation projects and activities in the field of official statistics. Having appreciated the continued support of the DoS of Jordan in the areas of statistical capacity building activities of the Centre, Mrs. SELÇUK provided an overview of the contributions of DoS of Jordan to the activities conducted under the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), and SESRIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The Director General of SESRIC also briefed Mr. AL-REFAI about the data products of the Centre, including the OIC Statistics (OICStat) Database, the first and only international statistics repository on the OIC countries among others.

Mr. AL-REFAI congratulated Mrs. SELÇUK on her appointment as the new Director General of SESRIC, and exchanged ways and means of leveraging the existing cooperation between DoS of Jordan and SESRIC, focusing on areas of mutual interest and shared objectives.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration between the DoS of Jordan and SESRIC to address key challenges and contribute to the socio-economic development of Jordan and the wider OIC community.
