H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. İbrahim YUMAKLI, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, on 12 July 2023. She extended her sincere congratulations to H.E. the Minister on his recent appointment and expressed her utmost wishes a successful tenure.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in a discussion surrounding the latest advancements within their respective institutions, highlighting the jointly executed projects and initiatives that led to the advancement of the agriculture sector and food security in the OIC region.

The discussions underscored the tireless efforts of SESRIC in this field, particularly through its capacity building activities aimed at enhancing skills and competencies of agricultural professionals across OIC Countries. In addition, the constructive dialogue between the two parties shed light on the significance of various technical reports and research studies published by the Centre. These resources serve as valuable guides for policy-making and support the formulation of strategic programmes and frameworks within member countries.

The meeting also highlighted the Ministry's commendable initiatives in various areas, such as waste reduction, food safety and advancing agricultural technologies. These endeavours serve as exemplary practices that can be shared with other member countries, offering valuable assistance in their own development efforts.

In conclusion, both parties agreed to further strengthen the bonds between their respective institutions in line with the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SESRIC and the Ministry. They also explored potential new joint projects and undertakings aimed at addressing the challenges faced by the OIC countries, with a focus on fostering sustainable agriculture practices and advancing the sector within the region.
