H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Dr. Lalu Muhamad IQBAL, on 01 August 2023. The meeting, which took place in the premises of the Embassy of Indonesia, aimed at discussing different aspects of cooperation between SESRIC and the national institutions in Indonesia.

During the meeting, H. E. SELÇUK expressed her appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to her during this visit. She also thanked the Ambassador for the great efforts Indonesia exerts in supporting SESRIC activities. Indonesia, as an active member of the OIC and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), has played vital roles in promoting peace, stability, solidarity, tolerance, economic cooperation, and development among the member states of both bodies.

SESRIC has organized hundreds of capacity-building activities for the benefit of the relevant institutions in Indonesia. Likewise, these institutions have been generous in supporting SESRIC in the implementation of various activities; they assign prominent experts to conduct several capacity building activities, including, but not limited to, Islamic finance, statistics, agriculture, tourism, etc.

Among the high-profile institutions in Indonesia, BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Bank Indonesia (BI) and Indonesia Stock Exchange stand out as the institutions with which SESRIC has the strongest cooperation ties in the areas of common interest.

At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their genuine commitment to work hand in hand to enhance partnerships in the fields that Indonesia proves to be pioneer at, such as Islamic finance development, TVET education, infrastructure, agriculture, etc. They also addressed the possibility of organising joint regional and international events for the benefit of the OIC countries.
