SESRIC attended the 24th ASEAN-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Coordinating Board Meeting

SESRIC participated in the 24th ASEAN-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Coordinating Board Meeting, organized by the Department of Labor and Employment of the Republic of the Philippines, on 13 September 2023 in Quezon City, Philippines.

During the session on “Cooperation of ASEAN-OSHNET with External Parties”, representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO), International Association of Labour Inspection (IALI), Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), Korea Development Institute (KDI), and SESRIC delivered presentations and speeches.

Mrs. Alia Sharify ORTAQ, Project Officer at the Training and Technical Cooperation Department of SESRIC, presented a detailed overview of SESRIC’s initiatives in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH). She elucidated on the establishment and objectives of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation-Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) which is spearheaded by SESRIC to enhance intra-OIC cooperation on OSH matters. Furthermore, Mrs. ORTAQ emphasized the importance of fostering collaborative relations and knowledge exchange between the OIC-OSHNET, ASEAN-OSHNET, and other relevant OSH stakeholders to improve working conditions and ensure the safety and well-being of the workforce across the regions.

ASEAN-OSHNET, a regional network, has its origins in the ILO Programme for the Improvement of Working Conditions and Environment (PIACT), initiated in 1976. The network is committed to the collection and dissemination of vital information within the ASEAN Member States, as well as managing research and training activities aimed at improving the working environment and conditions.
