SESRIC Participated in the International Conference on Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment

SESRIC participated in the upcoming “International Conference on Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment” jointly organised by the Organisation of Islamic Coperation (OIC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The conference is scheduled to take place on 6-8 November 2023 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This Conference is expected to make a significant contribution in promoting equality and empowering women within Muslim communities. It is further anticipated that the outcomes of the Conference led to substantial advancements in advocating for women’s rights in Islam.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK addressed the conference as a distinguished guest speaker. During the conference, she contributed to the 4th working session specifically focused on Muslim women in contemporary societies. H.E. SELÇUK’s presentation at the conference is titled “The Role of Women in Economy and Public Life in OIC Member Countries: Major Opportunities and Challenges Facing Muslim Women in Contemporary Societies from a Statistical Point of View”. This session aims to explore the opportunities and challenges faced by Muslim women in today’s societies, shedding light on their role in various aspects of public life and the economic landscape.

This event aspires to be an invaluable platform for academic discussions, constructive dialogue, and knowledge exchange related to the rights and empowerment of women in Islamic countries. Through its participation, SESRIC seeks to support the ongoing efforts in ensuring that women’s rights are recognised and protected universally.
