SESRIC participated in the 11th Meeting of the OIC/COMCEC Private Sector Tourism Forum

SESRIC participated in the virtual 11th Meeting of the OIC/ COMCEC Private Sector Tourism Forum, hosted by the Secretariat, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Türkiye, on 7 November 2023 in partnership with the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC). The Forum was attended by nearly 100 representatives from 30 OIC member countries’ relevant national and private institutions responsible for Tourism as well as international and regional organizations.

During the Forum, Mr. Davron ISHNAZAROV, Researcher from the Economic and Social Research Department at SESRIC delivered a presentation titled “Sustainable Tourism in OIC Member Countries” and briefed participants about the OIC and SESRIC level initiatives and efforts in the Domain.

Since its establishment, the Forum provides a communication channel among the national tourism authorities and private sector representatives to facilitate the sharing of experience and knowledge and to explore potential cooperation possibilities. This year's theme is selected as “Prospects and Challenges of Climate-Friendly Tourism in the Era of Sustainability”. Adopting climate-friendly tourism in OIC countries holds significant promise for addressing the environmental and socio-economic challenges associated with the tourism industry.
