SESRIC took part in the International Expert Roundtable Discussion on the “Preparation of Guiding Document for the Promotion and Implementation of Islamic Values and Ethics to Enhance Women, Children and Family Moral Wellbeing in Member Countries” from 4 to 6 December 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting was organised by the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization of the International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM) in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Dr. Nenden Octavarulia SHANTY, Senior Researcher at the Statistics and Information Department, presented “SESRIC Activities on Promoting Islamic Values and Ethics Relevant to Women, Children, and Family” during the Fourth Working Session of the Meeting. Her presentation provided an overview of SESRIC’s efforts to promote Islamic values and ethics relevant to women, children, and families, along with SESRIC’s future plans and activities.

The meeting’s core objectives centered on extensive deliberation and consolidation of the draft document aimed at enhancing the moral wellbeing of children, women, and families in OIC member countries through the promotion and implementation of Islamic values and ethics. Representatives from attending agencies, including SESRIC, contributed valuable inputs and recommendations to refine the guiding document, emphasising a collective effort to outline the next consequential steps for the document’s implementation.

The meeting’s overarching aim was to develop a roadmap emphasising the collective commitment of OIC member countries and relevant stakeholders toward the effective implementation of the guiding document. This aimed at fostering a comprehensive and concerted approach to promoting Islamic values and ethics for the moral empowerment of women, children, and families.
