SESRIC Participated in the Meeting of the Regional Coordination Group on Data and Statistics

SESRIC participated in the Meeting of the Regional Coordination Group (RCG) on Data and Statistics on 22 March 2024, virtually hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva.

The meeting convened representatives from various international organizations and covered the following agenda items:

  • Sharing of national and international activities
  • Inter-agency and country assistance in training and capacity building
  • Decision on New co-chair
  • Next calls and topics

The Regional Coordination Group on Data and Statistics was established in January 2020 in response to the recommendation by the UN Secretary-General in the context of the UN Development System reform to consolidate statistical and data capacities at the regional level. The group, co-chaired by UNECE and UNEP, aims at building a triangular cooperation between the UN at regional and country levels and the intergovernmental sphere, in particular the Conference of European Statisticians, with a strong connection to the statistical processes at the global level. Member organizations include Eurasian Economic Commission, EFTA, Eurostat, FAO, IAEA, ILO, IOM, ITU, OECD/PARIS21, SESRIC, UNCTAD, UN-DCO, UNDP, UNDRR, UNECE, UNEP, UN-ESCAP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOPS, UN-Women, WHO and UN Country Teams.
