Within the framework of SESRIC’s Environment Capacity Building Programme (Environment-CaB), and Disaster Risk Management Capacity Building Programme (DRM-CaB), the Centre, in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia, organised a Webinar on “Post-Crisis Environmental Recovery Measures” on 12 December 2024.

The webinar aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of environmental experts in OIC countries, through developing and implementing effective post-crisis recovery measures. Furthermore, the activity aimed to foster knowledge and expertise exchange to enhance environment protection among relevant national institutions of OIC countries and identify challenges of post-crisis sustainable development.

The webinar was provided by competent experts from the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM), Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia (KLHK), and The National Agency for Environmental Protection of Tunisia (ANPE).

The following topics were covered during the webinar:

• Tunisia’s Experience in Environment Protection;
• Overview of Malaysia’s SDG Roadmap;
• Post-Crisis Environmental Recovery: ASEAN Context and the Way Forward;
• Environmental Governance for the Advancement of an Ecologically Civilized Nation.

The Environment Capacity Building Programme (Environment-CaB) was developed by SESRIC in 2014 in order to promote sustainable production and consumption patterns and to protect and preserve the environment in the OIC Member Countries. Within this framework, the Centre organises capacity-building activities for the benefit of the staff of the Ministries of Environment, Ministries of Energy and other relevant national institutions in the OIC Member Countries by using various modalities such as training courses, workshops, and study visits.
