SESRIC Participated in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69)
Date: 10-21 March 2025
Venue: United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA

SESRIC participated in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) on 10-21 March 2025 at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York. The event brought together representatives from UN member states, UN entities, International Organisations, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from different regions worldwide.

The central theme of the 69th session focused on assessing the current challenges affecting the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, as well as the outcomes of the 23rd Special Session of the General Assembly. Additionally, the session aimed to evaluate women’s empowerment and the Platform for Action’s contribution towards the full realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

SESRIC delegation, headed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, engaged actively in the CSW69 activities organised by the OIC countries, international organisations, NGOs, and other relevant institutions. Furthermore, H.E. SELÇUK held bilateral meetings with high-level representatives from various United Nations Agencies on the margins of the CSW69 to explore potential collaborative opportunities in domains of mutual interest.

As part of its contribution, SESRIC organised a side event titled “Baku Climate Coalition for SMEs’ Green Transition: Women Empowerment” on the sidelines of the CSW69 on 10 March 2025. The side event, which gathered over 45 participants, highlighted women’s critical role in advancing the green transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and its interaction with labour market policies. The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the primary intergovernmental platform specifically designed to promote women’s rights and empowerment. This year’s CSW69 marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995).
