Workshop on 'Multi-sectoral Mechanisms for Regular Evaluations on Disaster Risk Reduction'

Within the framework of SESRIC Disaster Risk Management Capacity Building Programme and in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB Indonesia) and the Ministry of Environment of Tunisia, SESRIC organised a Workshop on “Multi-sectoral Mechanisms for Regular Evaluations on Disaster Risk Reduction” on 14-15 April 2025 through an online video conferencing platform.

The workshop featured experts from BNPB, the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), and the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Kementerian Desa dan PDTT) of Indonesia, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) under the Ministry of Interior of Türkiye, the Ministry of the Environment of Tunisia, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). A total of 107 participants from relevant Ministries and institutions across 24 OIC Member Countries attended the workshop.

The workshop aimed to enhance understanding of multi-sectoral mechanisms for conducting regular evaluations in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It focused on how coordinated evaluation mechanisms could strengthen disaster risk reduction across sectors. Additionally, the workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of disaster risk reduction practices while promoting a more coordinated global approach to disaster preparedness and response.

The workshop covered the following key topics:

  • Enhancing Disaster Risk Reduction Evaluations through Multi-Sectoral Collaboration.
  • Tools and methodologies for effective Disaster Risk Reduction assessments.
  • Development of an International Training Center for Climate-Resilient Villages.
  • National Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (NSDRR) and Its Action Plan (2018-2030).
  • AFAD's Disaster Risk Reduction Activities and Experiences of 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes.
  • Pathways towards Resilience: UNDP’s Approach and Good Practices in Disaster Risk Assessment for Enhanced Resilience.
