SESRIC participated in the 24th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Poverty Alleviation Working Group, held on 24 April 2025, under the theme “Decent Housing for the Poor in the OIC Member Countries.”

It brought together focal points from the OIC countries that are members of the COMCEC Poverty Alleviation group, as well as representatives from national institutions and international organisations.

The meeting commenced with the presentation of a research report on decent housing for the poor in OIC member countries, followed by country experience-sharing presentations from Algeria, Iraq, and Türkiye. Representatives shared their experiences and current challenges in ensuring decent housing for low-income communities.

In addition, the COMCEC Coordination Office provided information on the COMCEC Project Funding (CPF) mechanism, a financing instrument introduced by the COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) in 2013. It finances projects submitted by member countries and relevant OIC institutions that contribute to achieving the strategic objectives and outcomes of the COMCEC Strategy.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks, reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to enhance housing conditions and promote inclusive development in line with the COMCEC Strategy and the OIC Programme of Action.
