SESRIC participated in the 24th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Agriculture Working Group, held virtually on 22 April 2025. The meeting focused on the theme “Strengthening the Resilience of Family Farmers and Small-Scale Producers in the Agriculture and Food Sector in OIC Member Countries,” with the participation of relevant national public and private institutions from OIC Member Countries, as well as international and regional organizations.

The meeting featured a presentation on the scope, conceptual framework, and methodology of the COMCEC-funded research report. The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the study’s objectives and analytical approach, focusing on enhancing the resilience of family farmers and small-scale producers in OIC Member Countries through effective policy and institutional frameworks.

Participants were then presented with the main findings of selected case country analyses, which highlighted good practices and lessons learnt in improving agricultural sustainability and resilience. The findings emphasized the importance of tailored strategies and knowledge sharing among Member States to address common challenges in the agriculture and food sectors.

Delegates from OIC Member States shared their national experiences and perspectives on strengthening the resilience of family farmers. These presentations highlighted diverse policy initiatives and innovative practices implemented at the national level to support small-scale agricultural producers in addressing environmental and economic risks.

Additionally, the COMCEC Coordination Office introduced its Project Support Programs, which provide funding opportunities for cooperation projects in priority areas. These mechanisms aim to encourage collaborative efforts among OIC Member States to implement effective solutions and scale up best practices in agricultural development and food security.
