SESRIC Participated in 24th Meeting of COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group

SESRIC participated in the 24th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Transport and Communications Working Group, held virtually on 24 April 2025. The main theme of the meeting was “Enhancing and Sustaining Rural Accessibility in the OIC Member Countries”. It brought together 42 representatives from relevant national public and private institutions of OIC countries, as well as international and regional organisations.

The meeting featured presentations from Hisartech Consulting, outlining the conceptual framework and methodology of the rural accessibility research project. It also highlighted main findings from the country case study of Australia and shared lessons applicable to OIC countries. Additionally, the meeting also featured the experiences of Iran and its initiatives to overcome rural accessibility challenges.

During the meeting, representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) shared their efforts in enhancing and sustaining rural accessibility through project activities addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by OIC countries. Furthermore, COMCEC introduced its Project Support Programs, which are announced annually on specific themes for the benefit of OIC countries and institutions.
