Date: 16-18 November 2009
Venue: Dakar - Senegal

The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) organised its Consortium meeting in Dakar, Senegal on 16-18 November 2009. Dr. Savaş Alpay, Director General of SESRIC, delivered a speech in the session "What works in financial and technical assistance: regional approaches, twinning, south-south" on 17 November 2009.

The Consortium Meeting brought together some 400 high-level participants — policy makers, statisticians, analysts, and civil society and private sector representatives from developing and developed countries, and multilateral organisations — to discuss statistical capacity building in developing countries and review the achievements and future contribution of the PARIS21 Partnership and its Secretariat.

The Consortium meeting was jointly organised by the Government of Senegal and PARIS21 and was followed by the 5th Africa Symposium on Statistical Development.
