SESRIC participated actively in the Senior Officials Meeting preparatory to the 8^th Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers (ICHM), held on 7–9 October 2025 in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The meeting brought together representatives of OIC Member States, the OIC General Secretariat, and relevant OIC institutions and international organizations to review progress and key initiatives in the health domain.

During the meeting, SESRIC briefed delegates on the Draft Technical Report on the Extension of the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action (OIC-SHPA). Prepared by SESRIC at the request of the OIC General Secretariat, the report presents strategic options for shaping the post-SHPA health agenda through an assessment of achievements and challenges, identification of emerging priorities, and a phased, pragmatic approach for extending and revising the SHPA framework to ensure continuity and adaptability.

In a separate intervention, the Centre also informed the meeting about the progress on the OIC Health Portal (https://www.oichealth.org), a central platform for health information sharing and cooperation among Member States. Since its launch in 2017, SESRIC has hosted, maintained and continuously enhanced the Portal while organizing periodic training sessions for national focal points and OIC institutions. The Centre emphasized the importance of greater engagement and regular contributions from Member States and relevant OIC institutions to further strengthen the Portal’s role as a dynamic hub for information exchange, evidence-based policymaking, and collaboration in the health sector.
