Training Course on ‘Halal Certification Frameworks and Regulatory Compliance’

SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Halal Certification Frameworks and Regulatory Compliance” in collaboration with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), on 14-15 April 2026 for the benefit of OIC countries. It was conducted within the framework of the SESRIC Halal Capacity Building Programme (Halal-CaB).

The training included expert-led sessions delivered by specialists from SMIIC, the Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK), and the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), and benefited 146 professionals from relevant ministries and institutions across 21 OIC countries.

The aim of the training was to enhance participants' understanding of halal certification frameworks, OIC/SMIIC standards, and regulatory compliance practices, while promoting the exchange of national experiences and good practices among member countries.

The training course covered the following key topics:

  • Overview of OIC Global Halal Quality Infrastructure (OHAQ).
  • OIC/SMIIC Standards for Halal Certification.
  • SMIIC Committee on Conformity Assessment and related standards.
  • SMIIC Standardization Procedures and Activities.
  • National Good Practice in Halal Accreditation.
  • National Good Practice in Halal Certification.
