Statistical Training Course on ‘Migration and Refugee Statistics’

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise a Statistical Training Course on “Migration and Refugee Statistics” for the benefit of experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of the Arabic-speaking OIC countries on 9-10 June 2026 through an online video conferencing platform. The training course will be organised in collaboration with the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

The training course will be delivered by Mr. Mohammed Falah Duraidi, Duty Director of the General Population and Social Statistics Directorate at the PCBS. The main objective of the course is to enhance the capacities of participants in the collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of migration and refugee statistics, while facilitating the sharing of Palestine’s relevant country experience with the participating OIC countries.

The training will cover the following topics:

  • Concepts and definitions related to migration and refugee statistics
  • International frameworks, recommendations, and statistical standards
  • Data sources for migration and refugee statistics, including censuses, surveys, administrative records, and big data, as well as data quality considerations and related challenges
  • Migration and refugee-related indicators within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including reporting and dissemination practices
