SESRIC to Participate in the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women

Date: 12-13 July 2026
Venue: Islamabad - Pakistan

A SESRIC delegation headed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK will participate in the 9th Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, to be held on 12-13 July 2026 in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Conference will bring together OIC Ministers responsible for women and family affairs, high-level public officials, representatives of relevant OIC institutions and international partner organizations. It will provide an important platform to review progress in advancing the status and empowerment of women across OIC countries, assess the implementation of the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women (OPAAW), exchange experiences and good practices, and strengthen cooperation in addressing common challenges and promoting women's empowerment.

The Conference will consist of two main segments. The Senior Officials Meeting, scheduled for the first day, will review technical reports and draft resolutions in preparation for the Ministerial Session, where Ministers will deliberate on key policy issues and adopt the Conference's outcomes.

As part of its contribution, SESRIC will present the OIC Women and Development Report 2026: Pathways for Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment, prepared as the main technical background document for the Conference. The Centre will also highlight its research, statistical, and capacity-building programmes and initiatives supporting the implementation of the OPAAW, with particular emphasis on women's economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion and social protection.
