Within the framework of its Central Banks Capacity Building Programme (CB-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB), organised a one-day webinar on “Fundamentals and Practical Applications of Participation (Islamic) Banking, Takaful (Islamic Insurance), Islamic Mutual Funds, and Sukuk” on 24 July 2026 for the benefit of executive and core steering committee members of the Uganda Islamic Finance Cooperative Union (UGIFICU).

The webinar aimed to provide participants with an intensive strategic alignment and conceptual foundation in Islamic finance while sharing the Turkish experience in this field. This event brought together four experts from TKBB as the training provider and more than twenty participants from the Uganda Islamic Finance Cooperative Union (UGIFICU).

Through expert presentations and interactive thematic discussions, the webinar provided a significant platform for strengthening institutional capacities in Islamic finance in the Republic of Uganda. It offered the participants both conceptual and practical insights into the operational foundations in Islamic finance while covering the following key topics:

• The global Islamic finance and participation banking landscape
• Practical applications of Murabaha, Ijarah, and Salam financing models
• Takaful, Mutual Funds, Sukuk & SME Support
• Digitalization & Shariah Governance
