H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Abdullah bin Ali AL AMRI, President of the Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman, on 16 September 2026 in Muscat.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on opportunities to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on environmental capacity development.

They discussed the potential role of the Environment Authority as a resource institution in future activities under SESRIC’s Environment Capacity Building Programme (Environment-CaB), particularly in the areas of biodiversity conservation and nature reserves, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and environmental monitoring.

The two sides also explored the possibility of establishing a formal framework for cooperation, including through the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with a view to facilitating joint initiatives in capacity building, research, statistics, expert exchange and knowledge sharing.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of SESRIC and the Environment Authority in broadening institutional cooperation and leveraging their respective expertise to support environmental capacity development across OIC Member Countries.
