The 15th Session of the Statistical Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-StatCom) commenced in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with opening remarks delivered by H.E. Mr. Fahad AlDossari, President of the General Authority for Statistics of Saudi Arabia.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. AlDossari warmly welcomed the participating delegations to Jeddah and reaffirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to further strengthening statistical cooperation and coordination among OIC Member Countries. He underscored the importance of fostering effective partnerships across national and international statistical ecosystems to support the production, dissemination, and utilisation of high-quality and timely statistical information.
H.E. Mr. AlDossari further highlighted the significance of the 15th Session of OIC-StatCom as an important platform for advancing common statistical priorities, facilitating the exchange of experiences and good practices, and enhancing cooperation among the National Statistical Offices of OIC Member Countries.
The Session also provides a timely opportunity to reinforce collaboration and coordination among OIC Member Countries in preparation for the 6th United Nations World Data Forum, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 9 to 12 November 2026. In this regard, the Session is expected to contribute to strengthening the collective engagement of OIC Member Countries in global discussions on data and statistics and to promoting greater cooperation in support of evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development.
