SESRIC Participated in the Global Social Innovation Index Workshop
Date: 13-14 October 2026
Venue: Casablanca - Morocco

A SESRIC delegation participated in the Global Social Innovation Index (GSII) Expert Workshop, held on 13–14 October 2026 in Casablanca, Morocco. Organized by the Government Council for Social Innovation (GCSI) in collaboration with Hassan II University of Casablanca, the workshop brought together representatives from Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, and relevant international institutions to jointly refine a robust Global Social Innovation Index by integrating academic and regional perspectives.

The workshop opened with the presentation “The People and Planet Economy: the vision, and the role of social innovation,” followed by detailed discussions and working-group sessions designed to gather candid feedback on the index and identify ways to strengthen it. Participants exchanged national experiences, addressed challenges related to data availability and coverage, and critically reviewed the existing measures of the index. Drawing on the findings and intensive exchanges, they formulated concrete recommendations aimed at enhancing the index’s framework, methodology, and relevance to regional realities.

SESRIC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting evidence-based policy-making and regional cooperation in the field of social innovation, actively contributing to efforts to make the Global Social Innovation Index more rigorous and actionable.
