Date: 19 October 2026
Venue: Hybrid, Cairo - Egypt

SESRIC participated in the High Level Pink Dialogue “From Awareness to Action: Towards Comprehensive Care for Women”, organised by the Women Development Organization (WDO) in collaboration with Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), in Cairo, Egypt, on 19 October 2026. Dr. Fatma SAYAR, Assistant Researcher at the Research Department of SESRIC, delivered a presentation titled “Women’s Health and Breast Cancer in OIC Member Countries” during the panel discussion “Breast Cancer: From Diagnosis to Recovery - A Comprehensive Approach to Women’s Needs.”

The presentation highlighted the burden of breast cancer among women in OIC countries and provided an overview of key trends and indicators related to women’s health. In particular, it noted that breast cancer accounts for about one quarter of all cancer deaths among women in OIC countries and has by far the largest share among individual cancer types. It also examined selected indicators on health-system capacity and available resources, underlining the importance of strengthening health systems to support prevention, early detection, timely diagnosis, and access to quality treatment.

The event brought together policymakers, health experts, and representatives of relevant institutions to exchange knowledge and experiences in the field of breast cancer care and women’s health, covering prevention, early detection, treatment, recovery, and national approaches to comprehensive care.
