H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak AL KHALIFA, Secretary-General of Qatar’s National Planning Council (NPC), on the margins of the 9th World Investment Forum in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss ways and means of further strengthening cooperation between SESRIC and NPC, including through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Discussions also highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange and sharing successful experiences across the region, particularly in areas relevant to national development planning and statistical capacity building.
In this context, NPC expressed interest in tailored training courses under SESRIC’s Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, particularly on topics related to artificial intelligence (AI) and economic statistics. Such initiatives could support the development of technical expertise, strengthen institutional capacities and promote the effective use of statistical data in policymaking.
As the institution hosting Qatar’s National Statistical Centre, NPC actively contributes to the work of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), most recently participating in its 15th Session held in Jeddah in September 2026. The meeting underscored the importance of continued collaboration in strengthening statistical systems, facilitating the exchange of expertise and advancing statistical capacity development across OIC Member Countries.
