OIC Environment Report 2019
Date: 07 October 2019

SESRIC launched the latest edition of its OIC Environment Report at the 8th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers held on 02-03 October 2019 in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco. H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC, addressed the Conference and presented the main findings of the report.

The report offers an in-depth analysis of the degradation of natural resources like air, water, land and biodiversity in OIC member countries. The report also highlights the current status of environmental management capacities of the OIC member countries and their active involvement in global discourse on sustainable management of natural resources.

The report reveals that most of the OIC countries are characterized with the high incidence of environmental degradation and low mitigation and adaptation capacities. This state of affairs necessitates that OIC member countries step up their efforts to enhance both intra-OIC and international cooperation to secure the necessary technical and financial support for devising and implementing more effective policies and upgrading their environmental management capacities.
