Technical Mission on 'Transport Statistics' to Kazakhstan

In accordance with its 2016 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Technical Mission on 'Transport Statistics' to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economics of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 26-30 September 2016.

Technical Mission was conducted by Mr. Özgür HEMDİL, an Expert from Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) of the Republic of Turkey, with the participation 3 officials of Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Transport – covers statistics on all modes of transport (air, rail, road, inland waterways, sea), includes topics like transport infrastructure, equipment, traffic flows, personal mobility, safety, energy consumption, transport enterprises, passengers and freight transport, transport sector trends, and road traffic accidents.

The Technical Mission on 'Transport Statistics' included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Presentation of TurkStat and TurkStat Energy and Transport Statistics Unit, ,
  • Road Motor Vehicle Statistics in Turkey,
  • Road Traffic Volume and Road Traffic Accident Statistics in Turkey,
  • Maritime and Air Transport Statistics in Turkey, and
  • Railway and Pipeline Transport Statistics in Turkey.
