SESRIC Participated in Interdisciplinary Conference on Family

SESRIC participated in the “Interdisciplinary Conference on Family” which was organized by the Memur-Sen Confederation of Public Servants Trade Unions and the Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBU) on 14-16 August 2020 in Ankara, Turkey. The Conference was attended by academicians and representatives of various national and international organizations.

The Conference discussed the current and future threats to the family institution in Turkey, the Islamic world and beyond. The Conference also served as a platform to exchange good practices and policies across the globe in combating threats to the family institution and strengthening its role for development.

Dr. Cem Tintin, Senior Researcher, representing SESRIC thereat, made a presentation on the “OIC and Family Policies” on 15 August 2020. In his presentation, Dr. Tintin informed the participants about the current state of marriage and family institution in OIC countries while highlighting some major initiatives and programmes of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its institutions in this domain. Particularly, Dr. Tintin talked about the salient features of the “OIC Strategy for Empowering the Marriage and Family Institution: 2020-2025” which was prepared by SESRIC in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and adopted by the 1st OIC Ministerial Conference on Social Development held on 07-09 December 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey.
