Training Course on ‘Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Development Plans and Projects’

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Poverty Alleviation Capacity Building Programme (PA-CaB), the Centre organized a training course on “Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Development Plans and Projects” on 7-10 December 2020 for the benefit of the staff of the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED) of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The course was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches.

The training course was provided by competent experts from the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Strategy and Budget Presidency of Turkey, Ankara Development Agency, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The training course aimed at strengthening technical capacities of the MoPIED on monitoring and evaluation of the national development plans and projects in order to deliver its mandate and functional responsibilities more effectively.

The objectives of the training course included:

  • Building the capacity of the participants in monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of development plans, programs and projects,
  • Developing better understanding on “Country Results Framework” and the logic model to measure the relevant outcomes as well as performance indicators,
  • Improving knowledge on developing customized tools and templates for monitoring, evaluation and reporting,
  • Understanding the role of different governmental bodies on monitoring and evaluation of development plans, programs and projects,

This training course was designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this difficult time of the global crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic.
