Training Session on ‘Content Management and Use of the OIC Health Portal’

SESRIC and the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) jointly organised a training session on “Content Management and Use of the OIC Health Portal” on 12 November 2020 through an online video conferencing platform. The training session was conducted within the framework of the resolution No. 1/7-ICHM/4 of the 7th Session of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers.

The virtual event was attended by nominated focal points from Health Ministries of 22 OIC Member States as well as representatives from relevant OIC institutions. The session was geared towards briefing participants on the rationale and structure of the OIC Health Portal and its relevance to the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action (OIC-SHPA) 2014-2023.

The session commenced with opening statements of H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General of SESRIC and H.E. Amb. Askar MUSSINOV, Assistant Secretary General for Science & Technology of the OIC.

In his address, H.E. Mr. DABUR underlined the importance of the focal points’ active involvement and commitment in regularly providing relevant content from their respective countries in order to keep the Portal active and leverage it effectively as an OIC hub for facilitating the transfer and exchange of knowledge, know-how and experience among the OIC Member States and OIC institutions in the domain of health.

Moreover, H.E. Amb. MUSSINOV emphasized on the key role of the OIC Health Portal in facilitating stronger cooperation among the Member States indicating that the Portal would help in identifying the countries with great potential in certain areas and seeking their assistance in filling the gaps of those in need, especially during these challenging times and towards the enhancement of the OIC-SHPA 2014-2023.

The programme continued with informative and technical presentations delivered by SESRIC with the aim of providing the focal points of the OIC Health Portal with necessary information and their role and responsibilities in content development as well as briefing them on different features of the Portal.

The training session was the first conducted in a series of periodic trainings towards the enhancement of the OIC Health Portal content and purpose. SESRIC and the General Secretariat of the OIC will continue to organise similar training sessions as per the relevant resolution of the Islamic Conference of Health Ministers.
