Webinar on ‘Survey on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Usage in Households and Individuals’

Within its recently initiated Webinar Series on Statistical Experience Sharing, SESRIC organised its fourth webinar titled “Survey on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Usage in Households and Individuals” on 10 December 2020 in collaboration with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) with the participation of 34 attendees from 17 OIC member countries (Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Togo, Turkey, and Uzbekistan).

Mr. Bilal KURBAN, Statistician at the Science and Technology Section of the Department of Sectoral Statistics, presented the experience of TurkStat in surveying households and individuals concerning their ICT usage.

This webinar covered the following topics related to the survey on ICT usage in households and individuals:

  • Concepts and definitions;
  • Methodological base;
  • Classifications;
  • Coverage and statistical units;
  • Data collection;
  • Measurement and analysis; and
  • Dissemination.

The webinar was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
