The Director General of SESRIC, H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Addressed the Third Extraordinary Session of the Ministerial Council of the Women Development Organization

The Third Extraordinary Session of the Ministerial Council of the Women Development Organization (WDO) was held virtually on 16 February 2022. Honorable Ministers and high-level officials from several OIC member countries and OIC institutions attended the Session.

SESRIC participated in the Session with a delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, Director General, and composed of Mr. Mazhar Hussain, Director of Economic and Social Research, Dr. Cem Tintin, Senior Researcher and Ms. Tazeen Qureshi, Researcher.

The Session provided a platform for the participants to discuss the work of the WDO and share their experiences and efforts towards the empowerment of women and achievement of gender equality. The Session opened with remarks from H.E. Dr. Maya Morsy, President of the National Council for Women of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Head of the Executive Bureau and the Ministerial Council of the WDO. H.E. Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs, read the message of H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of OIC. The Ministerial Council appointed H.E. Dr. Afnan Al Shuaiby of Saudi Arabia as the Executive Director of the WDO.

The Director General of SESRIC, H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, addressed the Session and briefed the participants on the programmes and activities of SESRIC in the domain of gender and women development under the three mandates of the Centre; i.e. statistics, research and training. Mr. DABUR also expressed SESRIC’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the WDO in line with the mandate of SESRIC to initiate and implement joint programmes and activities for the welfare and advancement of women in the OIC member countries.
