Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC organised a Training of Trainers (ToT) Course on “Web Design and Coding” on 12-13 October 2022 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training course was conducted by utilizing SESRIC’s in-house capacity and expertise in the field of web application development. The training was delivered by Mr. Abu Naser Huda, Director of Publication and IT Department and Mr. Mohamdi Veten, Senior IT Officer, and attended by 116 experts and professionals from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Authorities and relevant national institutions of 24 OIC Member Countries.

The training course aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of the participants in terms of web design and development, particularly with regard to identifying trending technologies and frameworks used by front-end and back-end web developers. The training also provided insights into the modern architecture used in websites and contained hands-on coding sessions on building websites by using web components.

The training course commenced with the opening remarks of Mr. Onur ÇAĞLAR, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department at SESRIC, who highlighted the significance of introducing digital skills and competencies to keep up with the latest digital transformations and to apply modern technology-aided instruction methods in order to face immense changes in the skills required for work and life. Moreover, he indicated that the success of TVET institutions in harnessing the advantages and addressing the challenges of digitalization largely depends on the digital competencies of TVET teachers and trainers and further efforts are needed to ensure that they have the necessary digital skills required to prepare learners for the future of work and TVET education. Before concluding, he thanked all participants attending from different national TVET Authorities and Institutions in the OIC Member Countries for their interest and participation in this training course.

The OIC-VET is an initiative of SESRIC officially launched at the COMCEC Economic Summit held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 09 November 2009. The Centre developed and designed this Programme to support and contribute to the efforts of the OIC Member Countries towards addressing the challenges and limitations faced in the area of TVET. The Programme also aims to enhance the quality of TVET systems in the OIC Member Countries, which in turn contribute to the development and competitiveness of their economies. SESRIC, in its capacity as the Executing OIC Organ of the Programme, monitors the implementation of the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025 and regularly submits the progress reports towards the implementation of the Roadmap to the Ministerial Sessions and the Follow-up Committee Meetings of the COMCEC.
