H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK visited H.E. Mustafa TUZCU, the Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye, on July 25, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to foster closer ties and explore potential areas of interest to bolster trade among the OIC countries.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK extended her gratitude to H.E. TUZCU for his warm welcome and shared her firm belief that this visit would open the way for productive partnerships and make a vital contribution to the advancement of trade between OIC countries.

In a comprehensive presentation, H.E. SELÇUK provided a detailed overview of SESRIC's impactful work in the field of trade. She highlighted the Centre's commendable efforts in producing insightful research reports, conducting capacity-building programs, and undertaking significant statistical activities to strengthen trade within the OIC countries.

As an important subsidiary organ of the OIC, SESRIC is instrumental in promoting the socio-economic development of its Member States. Aligned with its mandate, the Centre diligently works towards fostering intra-OIC cooperation, particularly in the field of trade. As such, SESRIC actively collaborates with relevant national and OIC institutions dedicated to the development and promotion of trade in the region.

Moreover, SESRIC regularly contributes to trade-related activities of relevant OIC institutions and provides progress reports to the Secretariat of the Subcommittee on Trade and Investment. In this respect, it prepares technical background reports and research studies on trade-related issues discussed at OIC Ministerial Conferences and other high-level platforms. These research initiatives aim to generate and disseminate knowledge about trade, provide guidance for policy-making, and support the development of strategic programs and frameworks.

The visit concluded on a high note, with both parties voicing their anticipation of further progress in trade projects within the OIC. By fostering strategic initiatives, SESRIC and the Ministry of Trade of Türkiye can work together to help overcome challenges and cultivate a prosperous future for the member states.
