High-Level Bilateral Meeting Between H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK and H.E. Serdar KARAGÖZ Chairman of Anadolu Agency

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK and H.E. Serdar KARAGÖZ, Chairman of the Board of Anadolu Agency (AA), convened for a high-level bilateral meeting to discuss avenues for enhanced collaboration and strengthened ties between the two institutions.

During the meeting both parties delved into various potential areas of working together, including statistical outreach, international events, joint training programs, and more, emphasizing the pivotal role that their respective institutions play in advancing socio-economic goals and promoting awareness among OIC countries.

The focus of the discussion centered on leveraging the extensive media reach of Anadolu Agency and the socio-economic objectives of SESRIC to further advance common interests among OIC countries. Both entities recognized the importance of a strategic partnership that could contribute significantly to fostering cooperation, and sharing knowledge of media outreach for OIC nations.

H.E. SELÇUK underscored the vital role of statistics in shaping evidence-based policies and strategies. The potential collaboration in statistical outreach is expected to enhance data-driven decision-making processes across OIC countries, thereby contributing to sustainable development and effective governance.

On his turn, H.E. KARAGÖZ highlighted that AA's expertise in socio-economic research and AA's extensive media coverage could provide a platform for highlighting critical issues, promoting dialogue, and showcasing the achievements of OIC countries on a global stage.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK extended her thanks to H.E. KARAGÖZ and his team for their warm welcome and underlined that this strategic partnership will emanate tangible contributions towards the socio-economic development and advancement of OIC nations.

Anadolu Agency was founded in 1920 during the Turkish War of Independence by the order of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. The agency was officially launched on April 6, 1920, 17 days before the Turkish Grand National Assembly convened for the first time. AA and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) were both restructured to more closely reflect the administration line. Anadolu Agency is an active member of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA).
