Following the recommendations of the bilateral meeting between H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, and H.E. Dr. Amalia Adininggar WIDYASANTI, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia, on the margins of the 39^th Ministerial Session of the COMCEC on 3 December 2023 in Istanbul, Türkiye, a virtual technical meeting was convened on 14 December 2023.

The meeting focused on Indonesia's national strategies to augment productivity through the promotion of the halal industry and Sharia economy. Indonesia's Islamic finance sector, ranking third globally, was discussed, emphasizing the pivotal role of Sharia economics and finance in national economic development. The Indonesian representatives expressed their willingness to share their expertise and experiences in these domains with other OIC countries.

SESRIC representatives presented an overview of the Centre's mandates in statistics, socio-economic research, and training and technical cooperation, including its flagship initiatives like SESRIC Capacity Building Programmes and the OIC-VET Programme. They also highlighted the upcoming launch of a new capacity-building programme on digital transformation, following the resolutions of the 39^th Session of the COMCEC held on 2-5 December 2023, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation and collaborate on capacity-building activities in shared areas of interest, particularly in the halal industry, halal tourism, and digital economy.
