Training Course on ‘Establishment and Operationalisation of National Labour Market Observatories’

Within the framework of the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) Working Plan 2024-2026 and the Public Employment Services Capacity Building Programme (PES-CaB), and in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Establishment and Operationalisation of National Labour Market Observatories” on 21-22 October 2025.

The course was delivered in Arabic for the benefit of Arab-speaking countries and brought together 125 professionals from relevant ministries and institutions across 10 OIC countries.

The training aimed to provide focused guidance on the establishment and operation of national labour market observatories. It explored key elements such as institutional setup, data management frameworks, system design, and labour market analysis. The course also highlighted international experiences and methods for effectively communicating findings to support evidence-based policymaking.

The training course covered the following key topics:

  • Labour Market Observatories: Introduction, Institutional Framework, and Data Governance.
  • Labour Market Data Sources, Information System Development, and Data Collection and Analysis.
  • International and Regional Models and Experiences.
  • Key Labour Market Indicators, Market Needs Forecasting, and Communicating information to the Public and Media.
  • Analytical Outputs Preparation and Decision-Making Support.
  • Future Trends in Labour Market Systems and Observatories.
