Date: 09-11 February 2026
Venue: Madinah - Saudi Arabia

SESRIC participated in the 46th AlBaraka Symposium, entitled “Righteousness and Benevolence in the Islamic Economy: The Way Forward”, organised by the AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Madinah Region, on 9–11 February 2026 in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The 46th AlBaraka Symposium brought together prominent figures in Islamic finance and economics, representatives of the national Islamic finance regulatory authorities, including Central Banks, international organisations, as well as the private sector and academia.

The three-day programme featured five thematic sessions, four specialised workshops, a high-level panel discussion, and dedicated sessions aimed at promoting knowledge exchange and practical dialogue on the future of the charity and philanthropy sector within the Islamic economy.

During the 46th AlBaraka Symposium, participants examined the Shari’ah and Maqasid foundations of the charitable and philanthropic sector, alongside the evolving role of Islamic banks and financing instruments in strengthening its institutional framework. Discussions also addressed governance mechanisms for managing Waqf and Zakat funds, the impact of digital transformation and crowdfunding, and strategic pathways to advance the non-profit sector within the Islamic economy.

Through its participation in global Islamic economy fora and meetings, SESRIC supports the OIC countries in their developmental efforts by organising capacity-building programmes, providing relevant research and studies, and facilitating the improvement of data and statistics in line with international standards, including the 2025 System of National Accounts (SNA), among others.
