Webinar on ‘Key Digital Challenges for Competition Authorities and Potential Solutions’

Within the framework of SESRIC Competition Authorities Capacity Building Programme (CA-CaB), SESRIC organised a webinar on “Key Digital Challenges for Competition Authorities and Potential Solutions” on 31 March 2026.

The event featured insightful presentations from representatives of the Gambia Competition

and Consumer Protection Commission (GCCPC), the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

A total of 93 experts from national institutions across 24 OIC countries benefitted from the webinar, which aimed to explore key digital challenges faced by competition authorities in an increasingly digitalised economy. It provided a platform to reflect on emerging issues related to digital markets, data, and technology-driven business models.

The following topics were discussed during the webinar:

  • Digital Challenges, Regulatory Solutions: Insights from the GCCPC Digital Market Study;
  • Key Digital Challenges for Competition Authorities: a Calibrated Economic Analysis;
  • Digital Markets Under Scrutiny: Enforcement Challenges and Practical Insights from the Turkish Competition Authority;
  • Impact of Digitalization in the Work of Competition Agencies;
  • High Concentration, Enforcement Challenges, and Potential Approaches in Digital Markets

SESRIC has launched the Competition Authorities Capacity Building Programme (CA-CaB) in 2015, with a view to enhancing the capacities of human resources of the Competition Authorities operating in the OIC Member Countries.
