The Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), in collaboration with SESRIC, organised an “Online Workshop on Destination Marketing Strategies for emerging Markets within the OIC region” on 8-9 July 2026.

The workshop brought together 70 participants from 13 OIC countries aiming to raise awareness on emerging tourism trends and niches while underscoring the importance of diversifying current offerings in the sector. The technical sessions focused on innovative marketing and branding strategies through the promotion of investment opportunities, fostering the exchange of best practices, and encouraging regional cooperation.

Representing SESRIC, Dr. Davron ISHNAZAROV delivered a presentation on “Current State of Tourism and Potential of the Emerging OIC Markets” during the Workshop. The presentation highlighted the growing role of OIC countries in global tourism, with 272 million international tourist arrivals and USD 279 billion in tourism receipts in 2024, both accounting for 18% of the world total. Referring to selected good practices from OIC and non-OIC countries, he emphasized the importance of data-driven destination management, digital marketing, travel facilitation, improved connectivity, and community-centred tourism as key instruments for enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of emerging tourism markets in the OIC region.
