SESRIC participated in the 26th Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Health (COSH 2026), organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Malaysia on 14-15 September 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Held under the theme “Wellbeing at Work,” COSH 2026 brought together more than 1,300 delegates, 2,000 visitors, 80 exhibitors and 40 speakers, providing a platform for policymakers, government institutions, OSH professionals, researchers, industry representatives and international organisations to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging issues in occupational safety and health.
SESRIC contributed to the programme through a presentation, during the Concurrent 1.1 Wellbeing and Sustainability session. The presentation, entitled “Wellbeing and Sustainability in Occupational Safety and Health: An OIC Perspective,” brought the experience and perspective of the OIC Member Countries into the discussions on workplace wellbeing and sustainable occupational safety and health practices.
The presentation highlighted the close relationship between occupational safety and health, workers’ wellbeing and sustainable working environments. It also drew attention to the importance of strengthening OSH systems through institutional capacity building, knowledge exchange, technical cooperation and the sharing of good practices among countries.
The session formed part of a broader international programme that brought together experts and representatives from prominent OSH institutions and organisations. Among the international contributors were the Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organisation (APOSHO), the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), United Kingdom, reflecting the international dimension of COSH 2026 and its role as a platform for dialogue on current and emerging OSH priorities.
SESRIC’s participation also reflected its ongoing work in occupational safety and health under the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) and the SESRIC Occupational Safety and Health Capacity Building Programme (OSH-CaB).
In this context, the cooperation between SESRIC and NIOSH Malaysia contributes to strengthening technical exchanges and capacity-building opportunities and supports closer engagement between OSH institutions in the OIC member countries. SESRIC also maintains cooperation with ASEAN-OSHNET, providing an additional avenue for knowledge sharing and collaboration between the OIC and ASEAN OSH communities.
