SESRIC participated in the 27th Meeting of the COMCEC Transport and Communications Working Group, held under the theme “Designing Integrated Multimodal Transport Systems in OIC Member Countries” on 14-15 September 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministries of Transport and Communications and other national authorities of OIC countries, alongside international organisations and private sector representatives.
The Session commenced with a presentation on the “Outlook of Transport and Communications in the OIC Countries” by the COMCEC Coordination Office. This was followed by the presentation of the draft research report on “Designing Integrated Multimodal Transport Systems in OIC Member Countries” and a session on the main findings of the selected case country analysis and lessons learnt.
Representatives from Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia shared their ongoing efforts through country presentations. Additionally, the Union of Chambers and Commodities Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) and the International Transporters’ Association (UND) provided insights based on their experience in designing and supporting integrated multimodal transport systems, offering a broader perspective to the discussions.
The Session ended with another presentation by COMCEC on its “Project Support Instruments”, which are announced annually under specific thematic areas to support projects submitted by the OIC countries and institutions.
The two-day meeting concluded with a policy debate among participating delegates, focusing on the formulation of policy recommendations for the 42nd COMCEC Ministerial Session, as well as a field visit. SESRIC exchanged views and opinions with the working group members and introduced the activities on research, statistics and training related to transport and communication.
