Training Course on ‘Statistical Confidentiality and Disclosure Protection’ in Benin

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Statistical Confidentiality and Disclosure Protection’ at National Institute of Statistics and Economic Analysis (INSAE) of Benin on 4 – 6 December 2017. 

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. Diomando SYNDOU, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cote d'Ivoire, with the participation of relevant officials of the INSAE.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Statistical Confidentiality and Disclosure Protection – includes the topics on legal, organizational and technical measures to safeguard confidentiality of statistical data, methods of releasing microdata while protecting against disclosure of individual data.

The Training Course on ‘Statistical Confidentiality and Disclosure Protection’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  •  Concepts and Definitions,
  •  Statistical Confidentiality and Management of Confidentiality,
  • Conditions Governing the Disclosure of Statistics,
  • Statistical Disclosure Control,
  • Disclosure control techniques specific to microdata.
