Meetings Organised / Participated by SESRIC on Tourism

Within the scope of its mandate, the SESRIC continues to carry out and initiate various activities related to tourism development and cooperation in the Member Countries. In this context, SESRIC has developed a section on tourism in its main database "BASEIND", where it regularly updates it.

SESRIC has been regularly preparing the report on "International Tourism in the OIC Countries: Prospects and Challenges" since the 1st Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM), which was held in Isfahan, Iran in 2000. The report has been submitted to the ICTMs and other OIC Meetings on Tourism.

Within the framework of OIC Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB), SESRIC organizes, in collaboration with international and national institutions, training programmes and workshops on various fields related to Tourism. For more information please refer to OIC Tourism CaB Main Page.

6th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers

Umayyad Mosque, DamascusThe Sixth Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) was held in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic, on 29 June - 2 July 2008. It was preceded by a two-day Meeting of the Senior Officials on 29-30 June. Representatives from 32 member countries, the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), the Arab Tourism Organisation, Iran cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation, the General Secretariat of the OIC and its subsidiary, specialised and affiliated institutions attended the Conference. Dr. Savas Alpay, Director General, and Mr. Nabil Dabour, Acting Director of Research Department, represented the Centre thereat.
