Within the framework of SESRIC Competition Authorities Capacity Building Programme (CA-CaB), SESRIC organised a webinar on “Key Digital Challenges for Competition Authorities and Potential Solutions” on 31 March 2026.

SESRIC participated in the International Strategic Communication Summit (StratCom) 2026 under the theme “Disruption in the International System: Crises, Narratives, and the Search for Order”, organised by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications in Istanbul on 27–28 March 2026. The Summit brought together 11 ministers from 10 countries and more than 60 senior officials from around the world.

SESRIC, as a founding member of the Forum, participated in the meetings of the International Forum on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) held in a hybrid format in Paris, France on 16-18 March 2026. The programme included the 2nd Meeting of the Statistical Working Group on 16-17 March 2026, and the 5th Meeting of the Steering Group on 17-18 March 2026. The Forum meetings brought together members of the Forum to advance methodological and strategic discussions on TOSSD as an international framework for measuring officially supported resources in support of sustainable development.

Within the framework of its Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), SESRIC, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) jointly organised a Workshop on “Enhancing Water Resources for Sustainable Food Security” on 11 March 2026.

SESRIC and the BPS-Statistics Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the existing cooperation in the field of official statistics and to further enhance collaboration in supporting the development of national statistical systems across the OIC Member Countries. The signing ceremony took place on 5 March 2026 on the sidelines of the 57^th Session of the UN Statistical Commission convened in New York.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with Dr. Shantanu Mukherjee, Head of the Economic Analysis and Policy Division at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York City.

In the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), which was held in New York City from 3 to 6 March 2026, Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), in collaboration with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), organised a side event titled “Strengthening Agricultural Census Systems in OIC Countries: Lessons Learned and Future Directions” on 5 March 2026 (13:15–14:30, EST). The side event was hosted at the Turkish House (Türkevi Center) / Turkish Mission in New York.

SESRIC delegation, led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK participated in the Malaysia–Tajikistan MoU Signing Ceremony held on 4 March 2026 at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the UN on the margins of the 57^th Session of the UN Statistical Commission in New York.

A SESRIC delegation led by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Amb. Hameed Ajibaiye OPELOYERU, Permanent Observer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations, on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission held in New York City.

SESRIC and the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the integration of Tobacco Questions for Surveys (TQS) into national household survey in Uzbekistan.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Ahmet YILDIZ, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Nations in New York.

Within the framework of its Disaster Risk Management Capacity Building Programme (DRM-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), organised a webinar on “Strategies for Building Resilience in Changing Climate” on 4 March 2026.

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), organised the Follow-up Meeting of the 14th Session of the OIC-StatCom on 4 March 2026 as a side event of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) in New York. 31 delegates from 15 OIC countries, as well as the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), attended the meeting.

SESRIC participated in the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) held in person in New York from 3 to 6 March 2026, and also organised two side events on its margins.

SESRIC participated in the 47^th Session of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA), held on 2 March 2026 in New York, on the margins of the 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC). The meeting brought together representatives of international and supranational organizations to strengthen inter-agency coordination and cooperation in official statistics.

A delegation from the OIC Labour Centre, led by H.E. Mr. Azar BAYRAMOV, Director General, paid a courtesy visit to SESRIC. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways and means to further strengthen cooperation between SESRIC and the OIC Labour Centre in areas of mutual interest.

SESRIC received a courtesy visit from H.E. Ahmet Rıza DEMIRER, Director General for Bilateral Political Affairs (OAGM), and H.E. Özgür ARSLAN, Deputy Director General for the OIC, ECO and D-8, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, at its Headquarters in Ankara on 25 February 2026.

Within the framework of the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) Work Plan 2024-2026 and the Public Employment Services Capacity Building Programme (PES-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) of Malaysia, organised a Workshop on “Stimulating Youth Entrepreneurship: Best Practices and Government Policies” on 24-25 February 2026.

Within the framework of its Central Banks Capacity Building Programme (CB-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), organised a Training Course on “Open Market Operations and Forecast Modelling” on 24-25 February 2026 via an online video conferencing platform.
