OIC-VET Meetings

Vocational Education and Training Programme for OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET) is a programme prepared by SESRIC in order to improve the quality of vocational education and training in public and private sectors. This is planned to be through supporting and enhancing the opportunities for individuals in OIC Member Countries to develop their knowledge and skills and thus contribute to the development and competitiveness of their economies.

The OIC-VET Programme has been officially launched by H.E. Abdullah Gül, President of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the COMCEC, at the COMCEC Economic Summit on 9 November 2009 on the presence of the Heads of States and Governments of the OIC Member Countries.

Phase II of 'Skill Development for Youth Employment (SDYE) Project': Field Visit in Cameroon
Date : 28 November - 03 December 2012 Venue : Yaoundé Cameroon

Within the framework of the OIC-VET Programme, SESRIC in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has initiated a project titled “Skill Development for Youth Employment (SDYE)” with a view to contributing to the efforts of the OIC Member Countries towards decreasing the high unemployment rates, particularly among youth. As an initial phase of the SDYE programme, a Study Visit was organized in Ankara, Republic of Turkey on 11-13 January, 2012 with the participation of relevant institutions from eight selected pilot member countries to share and exchange the experience of Turkey in fighting against youth unemployment through, in particular, the project named “Skill 10 Project”. The Study Visit also discussed the possible ways and means of transferring the Turkish experience in “Skill 10 Project” as a best practice to the eight selected pilot OIC Member Countries.

Master Trainers from Senegal Awarded with İMTP Certificate

A group of eight master trainers from different vocational schools of the Republic of Senegal received training at the Centre for Art and Vocational Training Courses of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İSMEK) under SESRIC’s İSMEK Master Trainer Programme (İMTP) with the support of Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA) on 26 November-4 December 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Master Trainers from Azerbaijan Awarded with İMTP Certificate

A group of eight master trainers from different vocational schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan received training at the Centre for Art and Vocational Training Courses of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İSMEK) under SESRIC’s İSMEK Master Trainer Programme (İMTP) 12-17 November 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Study Visit on 'Vocational Education Experiences of ISMEK'

SESRIC organized a study visit on “Vocational Education Experiences of ISMEK” in collaboration with the Centre for Art and Vocational Training Courses of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (ISMEK) on 25 June 2012, in Istanbul, Turkey with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MEVT) of the Kingdom of Morocco.

International Symposium on “Culture of Lifelong Learning and Vocational Education”

The Centre for Art and Vocational Training Courses of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (ISMEK), a partner of the OIC-VET Programme, organized an “International Symposium of Culture of Lifelong Learning and Vocational Education” as part of its 15th General Exhibition and Festival on 16-17 June 2012 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. Mr. Huseyin Hakan Eryetli, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department, represented the Centre thereat.

Seminar on 'Youth and Development in IDB Member Countries'
Date : 02 April 2012 Venue : Khartoum Sudan

SESRIC participated in the first international seminar on “Youth and Development in OIC Member Countries” organized by the IDB Group on the occasion of its 37th Board of Governors Annual Meeting on 2 April 2012 in Khartoum, Sudan. Two international experts, Mr. Huseyin Hakan Eryetli, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department at SESRIC, and Mrs. Dahlia Khalifa, International Finance Cooperation (IFC), and a number of youth representatives from different parts of the world attended the seminar as panelists to express their ideas on the challenges faced by the younger generation and share their concerns regarding the opportunities open to them in today’s world.

Vocational Education, Industry and High Technology Congress

SESRIC participated in Vocational Education, Industry and High Technology Congress organized by Turkish Asian Centre for Strategic Studies (TASAM), under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, on 22-23 March 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Skill Development for Youth Employment
Date : 11-13 January 2012 Venue : Ankara Türkiye

SESRIC organized a study visit on “Skill Development for Youth Employment” (SDYE) in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the Ministry of National Education (MoNE), Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MoLSS) of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Employment Organisation (İŞKUR) on 11-13 January 2012, in Ankara, Turkey. The study visit was attended by delegations of OIC Member Countries, namely Cameroon, Egypt, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey and also by representatives of the Al – Fakhoora Programme, a programme of poverty reduction developed by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Besides, the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) attended the Study Visit as observer.
