SESRIC participated in the Sustainable Tourism Forum & Expo, organized by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) on 21–22 January 2026 in Karachi, Pakistan. The event brought together policymakers, experts, private sector representatives and development partners to discuss trends, challenges and opportunities in advancing sustainable tourism.

SESRIC participated in the High-level event “Knowledge for Enhanced Efforts: Introducing the WDO Cross-Regional Think Tank”, organised by the Women Development Organisation (WDO), serving as the soft-launch of the Digital Legal Library, in a hybrid format in Cairo, Egypt, on 21 January 2026. SESRIC delivered a presentation titled “Advancing Women’s Rights through Data and Collaboration” during the session “High-Level Strategic Dialogue: Partnerships for Impact.”

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC co-organised a Statistical Training Course on “Demographic and Population Statistics (including migration trends)” in collaboration with and for the benefit of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 20-22 January 2026 in Riyadh.

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Statistical Training Course on “SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) Indicators” on 20-21 January 2026 through an online video conferencing platform. The course brought together 225 participants from National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 22 OIC Member Countries.

As part of its Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), organised a Webinar on “Social Protection Statistics” on 20 January 2026. Competent experts from The State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, BPS-Indonesia, Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) of Oman, and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) shared their country experiences on social protection. The Webinar was attended by 74 official statisticians and experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and line ministries of 34 OIC countries.

SESRIC participated in the UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) Webinar on “Commit to Data” on 20 January 2026, co-organised by GASTAT, PARIS21, and Open Data Watch.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a visit to H.E. Amb. Abdulaye FOFANA, Ambassador of Guinea in Ankara.

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a three-day Study Visit on “Fishery and Aquaculture Statistics” on 13–15 January 2026 in Ankara and Trabzon, Republic of Türkiye, for the benefit of experts from the Ministry of Fisheries and Water Resources (MOFWR) and the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS).

SESRIC organised a virtual Training Course on “Promoting Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the Agriculture Sector”, in collaboration with  the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, on 13-14 January 2026 within the framework of SESRIC Occupational Safety and Health Capacity Building (OSH-CaB) Programme.

SESRIC attended the Roundtable Discussion on the Current Crisis in Sudan, hosted by the Africa Foundation on 12 January 2026.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a visit to H.E. Amb. M Amanul HAQ, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of Türkiye.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), H.E. Ambassador Sohail MAHMOOD, during which she conveyed her best wishes for success in his new role. Amb. MAHMOOD assumed office as Secretary-General of the D-8 Secretariat on 1 January 2026.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK paid a visit to H.E. Nasri Khalil ABUJAISH, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Türkiye.

SESRIC and Ibn Haldun University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara to strengthen their cooperation efforts.

H.E. Moustapha Sokhna DIOP, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Republic of Türkiye, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK at the Centre’s Headquarters in Ankara.

SESRIC participated in the Palestine Cultural Day, organised by the Women, Family and Youth Centre (KAGEM) of Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) on 8 January 2026 in Ankara.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a meeting with Mr Abdullah Rıdvan AĞAOĞLU at the Strategy and Budget Directorate under the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

The 49^th Meeting of the Board of Directors of SESRIC was held on 7 January 2026 at the SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, with the participation of all Board members from Gabonese Republic, Republic of The Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Republic of Indonesia, State of Kuwait, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, State of Palestine, Republic of Somalia and Republic of Türkiye.

SESRIC successfully organised a workshop on “Advancing Entrepreneurship in Rural Tourism” on 6-7 January 2025 via an online video conferencing platform. The event was held in line with the resolutions of the 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM), which designated Cairo as “OIC City of Tourism for 2026,” and within the framework of SESRIC’s Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB).
